The Blood is the anima/soul, so you will not eat the anima/soul with the flesh.
Since the anima/soul of the flesh is in the blood.
Only the flesh in the anima/soul, which is the blood, you will not eat.
Any discussion of life must begin on this principle. If there is blood, and the human fetus has blood upon the formation of the second cell, there is human life.
That is where so-called pro-life teaching ends and Catholic teaching begins. So-called pro-life people teach that life is a means of production for the wealthiest 20 percent of the population who control 85 percent of the wealth, the 5 percent of the population who bring home 20 percent of all income, the 1 percent of the population who bring home a third of the Gross Domestic Product.
God said, “Make man in Shalom/image and as his likeness.
As we treat our neighbor, rich, and poor, Anglo and Irish, Hispanic and African-American, Jew and Muslim, Catholic and Protestant, we treat God.
You will love The Personal Name your Mighty Judge in all of your hearts (“Your” is singular, “hearts” is plural) in all of your anima/soul, and in all you measure yourself with.” How do we love God? What do we give someone who already has everything? We respect what is his, in particular that which is made in his image.
So-called pro-life people favor spending cuts that deprive the poor of funding to feed, cloth, and house themselves and their children. They support politicians that cut funding for the education that would allow the poor to compete in the global market place.
Not knowing the word of God and seeking justification for their behavior, they try to force fit passages to meet their ends. One of these is Matthew 25:31-46.
“When Ben Adam comes in his importance, and all his messengers with him, he will sit upon his weighty throne and all the ethnic will be assembled before his face. He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.”
They do not read Isaiah 56:11, “Yes, the dogs have the soul of the goat; they never know satiety, Shepherds who have no understanding; all have turned their own way, each one desiring gain.”
The wealthy, the people the so-called pro-life people support are the goats of Matthew 25. They never seem to have enough. All they desire is gain.
The king will tell those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’ The charitable will answer and say, ‘Kyrie, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?”
The so-called pro-life people want to apply this only to the fetus. To them I offer, “I will make the fetuses little outfits if you cloth them. I will provide fetus food, if you feed them. I will provide fetus bottles to drink from, if you help them to drink.”
Of course, there is only way to cloth the fetus, and that is to cloth his mother. There is only way to feed the fetus, and that is to feed his mother. There is only one-way to welcome the fetus into our community, and that is to welcome his mother into our community, regardless of how she came to carrying our fetus, with our referring both to the mother and to the rest of our community. There is only one way to visit the fetus in prison, and that is to visit his mother in prison.
We need to correct the so-called pro-life people. Yes, life begins at conception, but it does not end at birth. Yes, life involves blood, but it also involves the image of God and the dignity of God. As we treat the least of these our brothers, we treat God. The next passage in Matthew is the Passion of Jesus Christ. As we treat our neighbor, we participate in the Passion and God will hold us to account.
